    02 · The machine

    What is Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates is pilates on a machine: the reformer. You move on a spring-loaded carriage that rolls back and forth. The springs set the resistance. Pilates at NOGRAVITY in Arnhem is done on the reformer.

    Controlled strength

You work at a controlled pace against the resistance of the springs. You match the load to your own level.

    Stability

The moving carriage asks your trunk to steer the movement. That way you train stability in every exercise.

    Mobility

Many exercises move calmly through a full range of motion. So besides strength, you also work on mobility.

    03 · Your first class

What your first class looks like

Never been on a reformer? Your first class has three steps. You train in a small group of up to 7 participants. The eighth machine is for the coach, so every exercise is demonstrated first.

    1. Explanation and set-up

The coach shows how the reformer works and helps you set up the machine and the springs.

    2. Guided exercises

You follow the exercises while the coach watches and gives pointers on your technique.

    3. Training at your own level

You work with a resistance that suits you and build up in a controlled way. Experienced athletes use the same machine at a heavier setting.

    04 · Who it's for

    For beginners and experienced athletes

Reformer Pilates is a training in its own right, for beginners and experienced athletes. You can come to NOGRAVITY just for this and don't need to take any other classes. Not sure whether it suits you? Feel free to ask us first.

Already training with us, or planning to later? Then you can combine Reformer Pilates with, for example, cross training, HYROX training or Small Group Yoga. That is a choice, not a requirement.
